Real-Time Server Monitoring and Notification System with Prometheus, Grafana, and Telegram Integration

The server is a computer system that provides data services to users or clients. Regular server monitoring plays a crucial role in identifying and resolving overload issues. Unfortunately, not just anyone can carry out server monitoring because it requires understanding and the ability to interpret the information produced by the server, which is usually only pos-sessed by administrators. However, network administrators often fail to recognize network failures, resulting in time-consuming troubleshooting and causing fatal network degradation issues. In this research, system monitoring is proposed using the integration of Prometheus, Grafana, and Telegram. Prometheus acts as a data collection platform for servers via exporter nodes. The collected data is stored in a time series database and visualized using Grafana. Furthermore, Telegram is used as a medium for sending notifications directly when server overload occurs. Thus, administrators can easily monitor and resolve server problems in real-time. The test results of the server monitoring system using Prometheus and Grafana show excellent performance. The Node Exporter successfully displays the metrics data, and Prometheus effectively executes the configured server targets and dashboards. In addition, the system successfully sends notifications via Telegram based on predetermined parameters, as well as providing real-time information about abnormal events. The results of questionnaires from users show that the proposed method can help in server monitoring with an average percentage of 85.33%. Meanwhile, in performance assessments, the monitoring system is able to send notifications to users in less than 30 seconds when the server experiences problems, depending on the quality of the internet network. Test results show that this solution contributes significantly to maintaining server system performance and reliability.
