Analysis of the Impact of Paylater Payment Method on Online Shopping Impulsivity in Indonesia

The utilization of the buy now pay later payment option can impact impulsive purchasing tendencies. Impulse buying is driven by the attractive incentives associated with accessing and employing the pay later feature. This investigation aimed to explore the influence of the buy now pay later payment method on impulsivity in online shopping within Indonesia, as it is perceived as a key catalyst for impulsive buying behavior. The variables assessing the use of the buy now pay later payment method encompass perceived convenience, perceived usefulness, intensity of use, and attitude towards actual use. Indicators such as spontaneity, strength, compulsion, intensity, excitement, stimulation, and indifference to consequences were employed to gauge impulsive buying variables. A total of 135 eligible samples were gathered through a questionnaire for research data, which were then analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square analysis method. The study's findings revealed a significant impact of materialism on the use of pay later for online shopping in Indonesia. The use of pay later was found to significantly influence impulsive buying behavior in the context of online shopping in Indonesia. However, the study results suggest that materialism does not positively affect the impulsive buying tendencies of online shoppers in Indonesia. In conclusion, the analysis of the data indicates that users of the buy now pay later payment method exhibit a propensity for making impulsive purchases. The insights gained from this research contribute to understanding the effects of employing the buy now pay later payment method on impulsive online shopping in Indonesia.
