Intelligent Expansion Planning of the Electricity and Gas Distribution Networks with the Presence of Distributed Generation and Energy Storage

Distribution networks expansion planning is an important part of power system planning. Due to the growth of load and the presence of various types of distributed generation units and electric storage devices in the distribution networks, it is necessary to carry out long-term planning for the expansion of these networks. The connection between electricity and gas networks is also important due to the presence of gas-fired distributed generation units. In this paper, the problem of expansion planning of electricity and gas distribution networks in the long-term horizon and in order to minimize the investment costs for installing new power lines and gas pipes, distributed generation units and electrical storages is considered. The optimization model of this problem is non-linear mixed integer programming which is linearized here. The simulation results in this paper are evaluated on the IEEE 33-bus test network.
