Image Quality Assessment of Breast Cancer with Various Modalities

Breast cancer is considered as the biggest cause of death for women globally. One of the promising areas that makes research effective is the analysis of medical images which helps in diagnosis and decision-making. The mammographic image quality analysis is crucial in the diagnosis of breast cancer. However, the process of ensuring acquired image quality from radiological equipment is subjective. The breast cancer diagnosis accuracy depends on image acquisition and interpretation. To effectively detect abnormalities, acquired images must have a high image quality (IQ). The study aimed to look through different modalities used for breast cancer detection and also discusses the requirement of image quality assessment in breast cancer screening strategies. The study evaluates a variety of imaging techniques, including mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, dedicated spiral breast computed tomography (B-CT), and real low-dose breast PET. The final outcome of the paper is a comparison of certain modalities based on qualitative evaluation, statistical analysis, and image quality analysis.
