Securing the Smart Grid: A Comprehensive Analysis of Recent Cyber Attacks

Cyber security is the entire process of stopping attackers from using information asset weaknesses to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets. Therefore, the three main components of cybersecurity—confidentiality, integrity, and availability—must be appropriately provided. The dangers and attacks related to cyber security are one of the main issues with constructing the vital infrastructures of today. The primary component of vital infrastructures, electrical energy is produced, transmitted, and distributed in a way that is efficient using smart grids. The growing usage of smart grids necessitates the identification and classification of dangers as well as the implementation of countermeasures. Smart grids must have the most advanced information security since they are at least minimally vulnerable to cyberattacks. In this context, this paper introduces several attack types, assaults on smart grids, and significant cyber-attacks on power systems. Additionally, the primary goals and specifications for cybersecurity in smart grids are provided. Moreover, the concepts of confidentiality, integrity, and availability are used to categorize the many attack types that can be used in smart grids. The study is then assessed.
