Analysis of Underwater Acoustic Channel Multipath Effects Based on Broadband Signals

There are serious multipath effects in the deep-sea acoustic channel, which can have a significant impact on the detection and processing of sonar signals. When both the source and the receiver are located near the sea surface, the receiver receives an arrival signal with a cluster pattern in the time-domain waveform. In this paper, we use the BELLHOP ray acoustic model to simulate the propagation of broadband sources in the deep sea. We differentiate signals arriving in different paths by changing the relative positions of the sources and receivers, and analyze the time-frequency characteristics and spatial-temporal characteristics of the arriving signals. Ultimately, this paper utilizes the arrival signals after separating different paths to estimate the bearing, distance, and depth of the target sound source.
