Abstract:

Chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) systems have emerged as a promising substitute for chipped RFID systems. Printable and reliable chipless RFID tags have the potential to revolutionize sectors where conventional RFID faces challenges. However, the absence of a physical chip in chipless tags imposes challenges in terms of detection reliability and communication protocols. This study proposes a scalable tree-boosting approach to tackle these challenges. The method achieves remarkable accuracy in decoding static chipless RFID tags with 99.18% precision directly from the reader side. In addition, this technique showcases both precision and efficacy in handling moving tags, highlighting its versatility and practical utility. The proposed method leverages S11 parameters, minimizing computational costs and ensuring a minimal false detection rate. By establishing a dependable handshaking protocol, it navigates the complexities associated with chipless RFID tags, ensuring seamless communication between tags and readers. In conclusion, this study shows a new chipless RFID detection method that is very accurate, cost-effective, and good for keeping track of moving objects. The better reading accuracy should make it easier for many chipless RFID tags to be used, which will lead to more efficient and accurate automation in the future.
