Performance Analysis of ANFIS based Speed Controllers with Voltage Feed Forward Compensation for Field Oriented Control of PMSM

Automotive industries are widely using Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) due to its high power density, high accuracy and high torque. The speed and torque control of PMSM is essential in order to implement it in different automotive applications. Field Oriented Control (FOC) based Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) fed PMSM is most common used scheme in various drives applications. The Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers are generally used as speed controllers for FOC based SVPWM fed PMSM drives. The typical PI gain settings are difficult to adjust because of the non-linearity of the PMSM and this causes an unwanted overshoot and takes more time to settle down to a stable state. In this paper, an Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) speed controller to demonstrate more stable and improved performance characteristics is analyzed and compared on the basis of performance parameters like peak time, rise time, overshoot and settling time with PI controller based method. This paper also discusses Voltage Feedforward Compensation (VFF) scheme for improvement of dynamics of SVPWM based FOC of PMSM. The simulation is developed in MATLAB/Simulink to validate the scheme for dynamic and steady state performance. The simulation results of ANFIS based controller scheme shows that system has improved dynamic performance in comparison with PI based controller.
