Design and control of a robotic hand for generating gestures based on American Sign Language

In the present generation, the problems associated with hearing disabilities are increasing speedily. These concerned people generally have hearing loss from mild to profound. It is due to these difficulties that the concerned speech and hearing-impaired persons face lots of problems while communicating with other individuals. The study reveals the execution of a right robotic hand to assist speech and hearing-impaired individuals based on the American Sign Language system. These concerned individuals use gestures as a medium of communication, which is also known as Sign Language. There are many people worldwide who do not know Sign Language. To find an appropriate solution to communicate with deaf persons, there is a specific need for the robotic hand model. The corresponding model is designed to feature a singular right robotic hand capable of generating various signs corresponding to the speech of individuals without speech and hearing disabilities. The robotic hand model was simulated, yielding the necessary results. The robotic hand interpreter system demonstrates an accuracy of 92 percent in generating signs based on the robotic hand model.
