An Improved QoS-Aware Partially Multipath DSR Protocol for Wireless Mesh Networks

Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a new broadband wireless network with high capability and high rate. It is the key member of the new generation of wireless network, especially in emergency communication system. Routing strategy directly determines the utilization rate of the network connection. Compared to single-path routing, multipath routing may offer reliable communication and better load balancing. While these routing approaches still lack the support of Quality of Service (QoS) in relation to data transmission. In order to make full use of network resources, we proposed an improved QoS-aware multipath routing method based on constructing virtual nodes and virtual paths. NS-3 network simulation tool is adopted to show the performance of this protocol. Simulation results show that proposed method achieves a higher success delivery rate and throughput, and lower delivery delay than Dynamic Source Routing(DSR).
