AGROSCAN: Image-based Soil Recognition and Crop Recommendation for Sustainable Agriculture

Agriculture, the production of crops for food and fodder, is essential for sustaining life. However, in the face of modern development, agricultural practices have been overshadowed, leading to a decline in agricultural activity. Soil and fertilizers are crucial elements in crop production, with soil providing structural support and fertilizers replenishing nutrients. Both are necessary for successful crop cultivation. This project aims to design a web application that employs image processing techniques to recognize soil types based on specific factors. Support Vector Machines (SVM) are utilized for efficient soil classification, enabling prompt recommendations for suitable crops and fertilizers. Parameters such as location, season, and soil color are employed to enhance accuracy. With the aid of this online tool, even individuals without agricultural expertise can independently cultivate crops with confidence.
