Medium-Term Electric Demand Prediction using Whale Optimisation Algorithm

In the electric sector, predicting electric demand is crucial since it serves as the foundation for decision-making about the design and operation of the power sector. This study intends to predict the electric demand for India based on different economic indicators, such as Populace, per capita Gross domestic product (per capita GDP), and per capita Gross Domestic Income (per capita GDI). Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) has been adopted for study for better optimal results. Electric demand has been predicted as medium-term planning. For this study, India as a study system that has been adopted. WOA_Electric demand (WOA_ED) models have been made for the prediction of electric demand till 2026. Proposed models have been developed on linear and non-linear equations to improve the prediction accuracy. MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) is best suited for the models to evaluate and estimate the electric demand. Based on different economic indicators and results, the electric demand is estimated until 2026.
