Stability Analysis of Low Inertia Power System due to Increasing Penetration of Solar PV Systems

Due to decreased cost, improved comparative efficiency, government subsidies, and technical development, the solar PV industries are thus seeing stratospheric expansion on a global scale. Although there are numerous functional, technical, and financial difficulties, as solar PV integration into the electrical grid is not plain and simple. The issues of grid integration for PV systems were discussed in this paper. In this study, IEEE 9 bus system has been modified to examine the effects of large-scale solar photovoltaic penetration on the overall system response. The findings imply that a reduction in the overall system inertia will result from solar photovoltaic generation contributing to several disturbances. As a result, disruptions and contingency events become more likely to occur in the system.
