A Study of Soil Shear Strength Sensing Based on Soil Shear Save Velocity

The study on the relationship between shear wave velocity and soil shear strength holds significant importance for landslide disaster warning. However, currently, there is a lack of mature methods for continuously monitoring soil shear strength, and existing in-situ soil shear wave velocity measurement devices suffer from complexities in operation and limitations in long-term monitoring. To address these issues, this study proposes a convenient soil shear wave velocity measurement apparatus designed using piezoelectric elements, enabling rapid and straightforward measurement of soil shear wave velocity. Furthermore, to validate the effectiveness of the apparatus and explore the relationship between shear wave velocity and soil shear strength, a corresponding experimental platform was constructed for testing. Through meticulous analysis of the experimental data, the optimal fitting relationship between soil shear wave velocity and soil shear strength was obtained, exhibiting excellent fitting performance. This relationship indicates a strong correlation between soil shear wave velocity and soil shear strength under the condition of only varying soil stress, thereby preliminary validating the feasibility of indirectly measuring soil shear strength using shear wave velocity. These findings provide new reference criteria for landslide and debris flow disaster warning and offer fresh theoretical support and experimental basis for engineering applications and geological hazard prevention.
