A Conflict-Free Dispatching Method for Aivs in Automated Container Terminals

This research proposes a dispatching approach that takes advantage of the precision capabilities of Automated Intelligent Vehicles (AIVs). The method bears the following features: (i) Improving transport efficiency; (ii) Planning conflict-free path for AIVs; (iii) Enabling a fast-dispatching plan generation. To evaluate the model, a microscopic simulation is conducted. The baseline adopted is a widely utilized method named First-Come-First-Serve (FCFS). Sensitivity analysis is conducted across various numbers of AIVs, Yard Cranes (YCs) distribution (demand distribution). The results show that performs consistently with various numbers of AIVs, and YCs distribution. The transport efficiency is enhanced up to 38.21%. The conflict probability is reduced within 1%. The solution time for 500 containers remains within 31 seconds. The method could serve for real-time dispatching of automated vehicles.
