A Superconducting Linear Induction Heater and Analysis of Its Performance

A superconducting linear induction heating device is proposed, which utilizes the characteristics of superconducting coils to generate a constant magnetic field in the air gap of the iron core with the characteristics of non-resistance and large current. The finite element analysis model of the superconducting linear induction heating device is established, and the characteristics of the air gap magnetic density distribution and its influencing factors are analyzed. Through parametric analysis, the effects of the excitation current and the operating speed of the sheet metal on the eddy current density and the loss in the sheet metal are obtained. By changing the number of slots in the iron core, the influence of the change in magnetic resistance in the air gap on the eddy current loss is studied. The research results illustrate the feasibility of the linear motion heating device and can provide a reference for the development of the superconducting induction heating device.
