Identification of Breast Cancer Biomarkers Based on Improved Gene Co-Expression Analysis

Biomarkers of breast cancer was identified in this paper by an improved gene co-expression analysis. Biomarkers can be used for disease diagnosis and evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new therapies in the target population. Wilcoxon rank-sum test was proposed as an additional processing step to conventional gene co-expression analysis to improve gene data quality. This better model was used to process data of breast cancer in The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) database. Three breast cancer markers, NME3, MRPS34 and MCRIP2, were found by this method. NME3 has been proved to be highly associated with breast cancer.
