Exhaustive Search for Costas Arrays Using Distributed Computing System

Costas arrays have ideal autocorrelation and are widely used in radar, sonar and other fields. Two main methods to obtain Costas arrays are algebraic construction and exhaustive search, the latter of which can be used to obtain all Costas arrays of a given order without any omission, mainly by single machines and large centralized computing equipment at present. However, in the search for high order Costas arrays, a single machine provides limited computing power and a centralized device does the search at high cost and fault risk. Therefore, a distributed search system is designed in this paper, and it is used to make exhaustive search for Costas arrays of certain orders. The results show that the distributed search system, compared with single machines, can improve the efficiency of the search for high order Costas arrays. Moreover, it is convenient and flexible in capacity expansion, and remarkably advantageous in rational utilization of computing resources and improvement on reliability and stability of the search system.
