Charging Electric Vehicles at Fuel Stations Using Solar Energy And Fuel Cell Technology

Design and optimization of a smart charging station that utilizes solar power to charge both electric and hydrogen vehicles. The proposed system integrated the solar panels, a fuel cell, a water electrolyzer, hydrogen storage, and vehicles capable of operating on either electricity or hydrogen. Mathematical modeling was employed to determine the optimal power ratings for the solar system, fuel cell, and hydrogen storage. Simulation results indicate that the solar system and fuel cell utilizes this system with the remaining energy contributing a diesel generator. To ensure a consistent power supply, the fuel cell and diesel generator to operates during periods of low solar energy production, such as from 18:00 to 6:00. Energy allocation analysis reveals that approximately 20% of the solar energy powers the electrical load, 50% is used for hydrogen production, and 30% is diverted to the diesel generator.
