Integrating Regenerative Braking with Advanced Battery Management for Sustainable Transportation

The demand for effective energy management systems to improve range, performance, and sustainability overall has been fueled by the quick advancement of electric vehicle (EV) technology. The combination of an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) with a Regenerative Braking System (RBS) for electric cars is thoroughly studied in this research. The suggested solution seeks to maximize energy recovery during braking and deceleration events while preserving the battery pack's longevity and security. When braking, the regenerative braking system captures kinetic energy and transforms it into electrical energy that is subsequently put back into the battery pack of the car. With a longer range and less reliance on external charging sources, this approach considerably improves the vehicle's overall energy efficiency. The study looks into several RBS setups. and investigates their effect on energy recovery rates under various driving circumstances. In order to maximize the battery pack's efficiency and durability, integration with a cutting-edge BMS is essential. The BMS keeps track of the voltages, temperatures, and charge states of the cells to ensure even charging and discharging. In order to avoid overcharging, over discharging, and thermal runaway events, it uses cutting-edge algorithms for cell balance, thermal management, and fault detection. The suggested system also has clever control schemes that can adjust to changing driving conditions. These techniques optimize energy recovery without sacrificing comfort or safety by dynamically adjusting regenerative braking force that is based on current data from the car's sensors. Through a series of lab experiments and on-road testing employing a prototype electric car platform, the integrated system is experimentally validated. Results show significant advancements in energy efficiency compared to traditional non-integrated systems, and battery life.
