Study of Epistemological Beliefs and Teaching Styles of Management Teachers in India

Management education across the globe is facing a major challenge of developing students’ competency in applying the management concepts to real life world. But, research work on the issue of epistemological beliefs of India's management teachers and its’ impact on their teaching style is not found. This study aims at ascertaining epistemological beliefs of management teachers ‘and its relationship with teaching style. In this descriptive study, 154 business management stream teachers in India were contacted through online mode. For this study questionnaire designed by Grasha(2002)14 i.e. ‘Teaching style inventory’ and Chan and Elliott(2004)8i.e. ‘Epistemological Beliefs Scale’ were used to collect the responses. The outcome of this research work will be useful in designing the curriculum for various management courses and also for framing teachers training programs of business management stream.
