Plastic Ban Policy: A Sustainable Development Initiative of India

Plastic bags waste is causing a serious environmental threat across the world. To counter this, the Indian Govt. has announced a draft of “Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2021” on March 11, 2021. For combating any social issue ‘bans’ have been a favorite measure of India's policy making landscape. As far as plastic ban policy is concerned, there were several attempts to implement such policy at state as well as national level but none of them seems to be successful. But, the report indicate that growth of plastic items market is India is increasing @7% per year as against 3% of global average. The researcher has conducted online survey of 487 people in the country by snowball sampling method to know their awareness, usage pattern and effectiveness of plastic ban policy of the Govt.
