Optimizing VPP Operations: A Novel Robust Demand-Side Management Approach With Energy Storage System

This paper introduces an improved robust optimization (IRO) to optimize the demand-side management in distributed generation systems. This approach synergizes energy storage systems (ESS) standby power with Virtual Power Plant (VPP) operational mandates, effectively addressing load fluctuations and output uncertainties. The IRO method facilitates a harmonious balance between power output and demand. Meanwhile, ESS reserve capacity can be optimized to improve utilization efficiency. This integration not only maximizes the benefits of the VPP system but also significantly elevates its economic efficiency and optimization. The methodology underscores the critical role of ESSs in stabilizing distributed units, thereby escalating renewable energy utilization and curtailing economic expenses.
