Development of a Battery-Less Wireless Sensor Node for Sediment Disaster Monitoring System

In the previous research, it has been challenging to achieve an operational period of more than three years for wireless sensor nodes used in landslide monitoring systems due to their high-power consumption, even with the use of large-capacity batteries. Therefore, in this study, we propose a novel technique for achieving long-term operation (approximately three years or more) of wireless sensor nodes in landslide monitoring systems without using batteries. Our approach involves the use of an original power supply circuit that combines environmental energy harvesting, electrochemical double-layer capacitors, and a DC-DC converter as a substitute for batteries.
