A Home Brew Rate-distortion competitive audio decompression scheme

This paper describes a home brew audio decompression implementation. The tools used in this implementation are either home brew, freeware or low-cost audio editing software. The skill set required for implementation is not beyond the realm of more able senior secondary school students and therefore lowers the scholarship of integration. The scheme is ultra-low latency, ultra-low hardware complexity and rate competitive to OGG Vorbis for high quality audio reproduction. Decompressed audio is inherently suited for better than 24dB/octave digital crossover implementation. The scheme is also suited for higher bit depth and higher sampling rate implementation at where it is most needed.
