Automatic Color Ambient Compensation Using A Novel Perception Model

The paper proposes a fully automatic solution for color ambient compensation to keep the creative intent that works with arbitrary ambient illuminance and arbitrary ambient color correlated temperature. Experiments on the effect of different viewing ambients to the content are implemented to study the perception model. The compensated color correlated temperature (CCT) is calculated based on the color ambient environment and the reference CCT. The result shows that the model matches to manually tuned ground truth compensation of CCT and can help to maintain the creative intent of the content in different color viewing conditions.
