EndoEye: A Marker-Based Artificial Intelligence Monitoring System for Endotracheal Tube Displacement

This paper proposes a novel marker-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) monitoring system, named EndoEye, which utilizes an AI edge module and an imaging camera positioned above the patient’s bed for continuous tracking of endotracheal tube displacement. Experimental results show that EndoEye can effectively identify the small displacements of the markers affixed to the tube, enabling the detection of tiny tube slippage distances. As EndoEye is designed to detect slight tube displacements without the need for additional equipment on existing mechanical ventilators, it offers medical staff a means to provide safer care for bedridden patients undergoing endotracheal intubation.
