Comparison Of Single Axis Solar Tracking System Without Sensor with LDR Sensor And Real Time Clock (RTC)

Solar panels can be used to convert solar energy, a renewable resource, into electrical energy. The quantity of solar radiation that solar panels receive affects how much electrical energy they can generate. Generally speaking, solar panels are mounted in a static form, although this is seen suboptimal because solar radiation varies with time. Thus, a mechanism that can regulate the solar panels to make them move in tandem with the sun's movements is required. In this research, three methods of one-axis sun tracking systems were carried out: a sun tracking system without a sensor, a sun tracking system with an LDR sensor, and a sun tracking system with a real-time clock (RTC). The amount of efficiency, pure power, and costs of creating a tracking system can be analyzed in this research. It was found that the three sun tracking systems can work well in following the sun's direction with relatively the same efficiency. The sensorless system has the advantage of the cheapest system investment costs and produces the most significant pure output power between the LDR and RTC systems, with a difference of 4.02 Watts.
