Ultrasonic Sensor Analysis on Metal Objects

In technological developments, ultrasonic sensors are often used to measure the distance from an object. The ultrasonic sensor commonly used to measure distance is the HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor. The sensor uses sound waves to determine the distance shot at the object. The objects used in this research are made of metal, often ultrasonic sensors cannot detect distance accurately because the distance on an object is too far out of reach and there are reflections from other objects or surrounding objects. The aim of this research is to analyze the reflection of ultrasonic waves specifically on metal object. The device is controlled by Arduino Uno and Matlab and the wave reading results are displayed on an oscilloscope. The ultrasonic wave has coefficient reflection coefficient reflection of 0.81 up to 0.93 by measurement using oscilloscope. The HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor can be used to detect the distance of metal objects. The sensor was read the distances less 2 cm than the actual distance, or it has accuracy less than 95%.
