Development of the Ultrasonic Imaging Tool Circuit System for Gas Drainage Borehole of Coal Mines and Laboratory Experiment

In order to prevent coal and gas disasters in coal mines, the extraction of coal seam gas through borehole drilling is a crucial method to mitigate gas-related risks during mining operations. Due to the complex geological conditions in Chinese coal mines, Measurement-While-Drilling (MWD) technology has been adopted by the coal mining industry. This technology is used to measure the inner diameter of the borehole during the drilling process. This paper presents an efficient and compact circuit system design based on the fundamental principles of ultrasonic imaging. It culminates in the creation of a small ultrasonic imaging logging tool with an outer diameter of 89mm. The paper identified a high power supply design. A signal conditioning module is designed with functions including signal amplitude limiting, amplification, filtering and differential transmission. The indoor test results show that the developed LWD Ultrasonic Imaging Tool Circuit System can measure the ultrasonic echo data, satisfying the LWD requirements to measure the inner diameter of the borehole during the drilling process.
