Enhancement of Charge Storage of Supercapacitor using Parametric Variations

Supercapacitors, also known as ultracapacitors or electrochemical supercapacitors have emerged as promising energy storage devices due to their high-power density and rapid charge-discharge characteristics. Effective storage of electrical energy is of paramount importance for humans, given its dependence on varied energy sources like hydro, solar, thermal energy, among others. As supercapacitor technology is still in its nascent stage of development, ongoing research in this field holds the promise of positioning supercapacitors as viable contenders for the replacement of conventional batteries in the future. Previous research work has proved that properties of electrode materials used in the construction of supercapacitors play a major role on their performance parameters. The presented research work details use of Response Surface Methodology, a statistical modeling method that describes the unitary and interaction effect of the various electrode material parameters considered for the study. The research presented in this study highlights a significant correlation between the quantity of electrode material applied to the supercapacitor electrodes and their overall performance characteristics. This underscores the crucial role of precise Specific Surface Area loading in enhancing the performance of supercapacitors.
