Design and Finite Element Analysis of a Single-Mode Modified Circular Microstructured Optical Fiber for High Negative Dispersion and High Nonlinearity across E to L Communication Bands

In this study, we report the design and finite element analysis of a new single-mode modified circular microstructured optical fiber (MC-MOF) designed for strong negative dispersion and nonlinearity over the E to L communication bands. We use modern simulation tools to conduct a thorough finite element study on the fiber's dispersion and nonlinear properties. At 1550 nm operating wavelength, our results show an improvement in both negative dispersion (−564.3 ps/(nm•km)) and nonlinearity (66.54 W
^-1
km
^{- 1}
), making the fiber ideal for a variety of advanced photonic applications such as ultrafast optical communications and nonlinear optical signal processing. At a wavelength of 1550 nm, a numerical aperture of 0.5369 shows that the proposed MC-MOF can capture light from a broader variety of angles, allowing for greater light collecting and efficient data transmission. < 2.405) over the E to L communication bands.
