Urine Glucose Detection Using Butterfly-Shaped PCF-SPR Biosensor

A simple butterfly-shaped sensor based on the surface plasmon resonance mechanism using photonic crystal fiber is proposed in this paper to detect the unknown concentration of glucose in urine. The finite element method is implemented to appraise the numerical efficacy and COMSOL Multiphysics is used as a tool to delve into the overall performance. An external sensing mechanism is used for this work, utilizing gold as the chosen plasmonic material. The performance of this sensor is flawless over the entire refractive index, ranging from 1.29 to 1.41. The highest recorded wavelength sensitivity is 80,000 nm/RIU, with an utmost documented amplitude sensitivity of 1517.91 RIU
