Highly Sensitive Photonic Crystal Fiber Based Glucose Sensor Implanted with Gold Wire

Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) based sensor is renowned in many research fields due to its versatility, quick response, label-free detection, low weight, and design freedom. In this effort, a triangular lattice structure PCF glucose sensor implanted with gold wire is proposed and demonstrated by numerical analysis. The finite element method (FEM) is used to assess the guiding characteristics of the sensor. The proposed glucose sensor obtains an extremely high spectral sensitivity of 8410.4 nm/RIU. and detection limit (DL) of 74.35 nm is obtained. Results of the investigation show that the suggested sensor can offer a reliable platform for glucose sensing, potentially paving the way for further advancements toward minimally invasive glucose measurement.
