Smart Energy Metering, Control, and Protection System for Making a Smart Home Using IoT

Internet of things (IoT)-based smart devices are easily available and affordable in the present world. The smart energy metering system (SEMS) is one of the novel ideas for monitoring, managing, and controlling the distribution of electrical energy. The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital technology in smart metering and smart home automation systems (SHAS) is an important strategy for future power grids. A smart energy metering system is an internet-connected hardware and software-based system that monitors and controls the energy usage of residential buildings. The overall system can offer real-time monitoring, control, protection, and effective management of energy resources. Wireless communication technology is used by the IoT platform to send and receive measured data from the control unit room to the energy meter. After access rights have been set up for the ESP32 module and the Blynk IoT cloud platform, energy distribution operators can use smartphones or personal computers to check on all electrical parameters and control relay modules remotely. Also, users or electric power consumers can monitor and control their home appliances remotely. This IoT-based smart energy monitoring and management system makes a smart energy metering system capable of real-time monitoring, control, and protection systems to improve energy efficiency, lower energy costs, and make the grid more stable.
