DCSRPS: Dual Circular Shift and Random Permutation-Substitution Based Image Security Framework

In contemporary digital age, data transmission through the internet has eased our daily life. Mostly the visual data in the form of images is transmitted to the receiver via insecure channels. Such data is also stored in cloud-based servers for distribution to authorized parties. While communicating such data through insecure channels, there is possibility of data capturing and modification that result in the loss of confidentiality. In order to rectify the issue, we have proposed an efficient cryptosystem based on Dual Circular Shift and Random Permutation-Substitution called DCSRPS. The proposed system consists of three stages. Initially the image I of size (M × N) is transformed to its binary equivalent matrix of size (MN × 8). This matrix undergoes 2-D circular shift (2-D CS) operation. . Finally, a Pseudo-random diffusion is applied to obtain the final cipher image. The experimental evaluation depicts that the proposed cryptosystem provides higher standard of security and can resist all plain text and statistical attacks effectively in contrast to the other state of the art techniques.
