Frontend AC-DC Bidirectional Converter for EV

In this article, a wide range bidirectional dc-dc converter is presented, which boasts an improved voltage gain transfer ratio that is especially suitable for use in EV applications. The centralized basic ground between both the input and output terminals is maintained by this converter, which simplifies the system and lowers expenses. As a consequence of its low potential pressure on switches, good utilization factor, and efficient performance, it is a very good option for EV charging systems. In order to assess the effectiveness of the proposed EV charger, bidirectional power flow modes are employed, namely Grid connected V2G and G2V modes. The converter employs a CC/CV regulator in the direct - current-dc and direct - current-ac modes. This controller is recognized for being flexible, accurate, and responsive. In order to corroborate the theoretical analysis, experimental findings for a 200 W, 40 V to 200 V design are shown in a closed-loop configuration with power flowing in both directions and the recommended CC/CV regulators. The acquired findings support the theoretical analysis and show that this structure may be used. Due to its advantages, such as an improved voltage gain transfer ratio, less voltage stress on switches, a significant utilization factor, cost effectiveness, and increased performance, the converter is an attractive choice for grid-connected V2G and G2V applications. The CC/CV controller ensures smooth and fast response, rendering it an optimal solution for high-performance EV charging systems. The simulated results validate the theoretical analysis, and the converter's capabilities demonstrate its applicability in practical EV charging systems. This paper thus adds to the expanding reservoir of knowledge devoted to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of EV charging infrastructure.
