Cultivated Meat Assembled by Microfibers

We propose a method to fabricate cultivated meat through the assembly of bovine plasma-alginate microfiber (BPAM) which is covered with myotubes. The BPAM consists of edible materials such as bovine plasma and alginate. Bovine plasma modulates cell adhesion and differentiation, and cell alignment on BPAMs is boosted by setting BPAMs under tension during the differentiation culture. As a result, we confirmed that myoblasts differentiated into myotubes on BPAM. We also demonstrate cultivated meat fabrication by assembling the myotube-covered BPAMs. We believe that BPAM holds potential for the fabrication of cultivated meat.
