Implementation of Pressure Maintenance for a Reservoir in KH Oil Field

this paper launches a brief on the effect of continuous reduction (depletion) of the reservoir pressure and hence in the oil production rate., in KH oil field, hydrocarbon is being produced from the well by the natural reservoir pressure only, well life has been changed due to the long period of production time to overcome such a problem, WATER INJECTION optimization. has been applied as a means of pressure maintenance for the oil reservoir to keep the current reservoir pressure at a relatively constant value.To optimize the production oil rate of (SH oil well) in KH oil field in KRG, Iraq, the first approach is to calculate the expected natural production rate at each reservoir pressure value. Focusing on pressure depletion and monitoring the amount of pressure lost per month or year. Prosper software is; used for simulating the natural production rates. Prosper calculated natural and optimized production rates and reservoir pressure, and water cut for the existing well based on the available data. This is the starting point for designing the future water injection operation as a technique for pressure maintenance of the reservoir. The water injection operation is based on the voidage replacement model.Sensitivity analysis shows that the minimum reservoir pressure to get the natural flow is 1034 psi based on zero water cut. Using four different approaches, Fetkovich’s method gives the best matching for the current calculated oil rate, after water injection, and the actual oil rate to be 7021.5 STB/day, 6900 STB/day and 6960 STB/day, respectively. To conclude, the pressure maintenance on the basis of voidage replacement,150,000 bpd water injected, resulted in successful maintenance of 1180 psi with an oil rate of 6900 STB/day after water injection.
