Spatial Processing with High-Fidelity Antenna Models and Quantized Analog Weights

This paper reports performance degradations, due to quantized array weights realized by analog means, of the traditional spatial-processing algorithm which was recently optimized through the integration of high-fidelity antenna models. High-fidelity simulations quantify the relationships among the quantization’s resolution, the key total and effective array gains, and the achieved signal-to-interference ratio for a static, deterministic, and electromagnetically contested scenario. These results reveal the resolution necessary for the spatial processor to approach its ideal performance for the considered scenario.
