Latest Advancements in Carbon Nanotube (CNT) Applications for Enhancing the Mechanical and Electrical Properties in PEMFC Components

Nanostructured materials like carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are being extensively investigated owing to their exceptional mechanical and electrical properties. The present work highlights the latest advancements in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for improving the mechanical and electrical properties of Polymer Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) components. This study starts by presenting the fundamentals of carbon nanotubes. Then, the principle of the Polymer Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) is briefly explained as clean energy conversion devices to boost a sustainable energy matrix. Subsequently, a comprehensive review of the recent developments concerning carbon nanotube utilization applied to proton exchange membranes and bipolar plates is addressed. Finally, challenges and prospective works are outlined for promoting carbon nanotube utilization.
