Assessing Accuracy in Capacitors Bank Estimations: A Case Study

Power factor remains an issue of concern in today's industries due to the prevalence of inductive loads, the new technologies and electronics further aggravate this problem. This paper presents an evaluation study of the accuracy of the capacitor bank calculation method from the energy bill and billing period. In this way, the calculation is performed based on the energy bills of a year and compared with the database of a monitoring system. The results show that there may be errors and therefore penalties when considering a minimum desired factor, so that a higher power factor may be desirable according to the load characteristics.
