A High-Performance Low-Latency Extended TPC Decoding Method

TPC codes have been of great interest as a high-performance, low-complexity error-correcting code. For decoding, a soft-input soft-output (SISO) iterative decoding algorithm is used, which is the same as the decoding method of Turbo codes. The BER performance of Turbo product codes is similar to that of Turbo codes, but the decoding complexity is lower than that of Turbo codes. Therefore, Turbo product code has become a popular code word studied by experts in the field of channel coding in recent years, and it has a wide application prospect in the communication system which has high requirements on transmission rate. The extended TPC code used in this paper can reduce the decoding delay by about 35%, increase the throughput by 35%, and improve the decoding performance by about 0.3dB, based on the chase-2 algorithm, with almost no increase in the amount of arithmetic and hardware complexity, and only a change in the way of selecting the judgment code word.
