Design of Rectangular Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna for V2V Communication at 38GHz

Road accidents are considered one of the principal cause of hospitalizations, injuries, deaths, and disabilities globally, including India. Approximately 150,000 people losing their lives each year in road crashes. various factors contribute to the major number of traffic accidents and fatalities in worldwide, including over speeding, lane violations, non-usage of safety devices and disregarding traffic signals. In this scenario the most effective way to enhance road safety and mitigate these issues, one is to provide drivers with real-time information such as accident warnings, emergency alerts, collision alerts, etc. The timely notifications can significantly contribute to make a safer driving conditions. Addressing these needs, the Advances in mobile technology plays a vital role in autonomous driving systems by providing real time data of road scenario can improve road safety, and also it has a significant influence on enhancing infotainment systems, enabling advanced navigation, and facilitating telemetric services. In order to meet the digital intelligence autonomous driving demands, the 5G communication is being opted for V2V communication as it offers a ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (uRLLC) with high data rates. Antenna design plays a critical role in enhancing 5G networks for V2V communication. In this paper, a slotted microstrip patch antenna operating at 38 GHz is designed and presented. The antenna design results in a peak gain of 16 dBi at 38 GHz, along with a maximum radiation efficiency of 97.64%. It also exhibits an improved Return Loss (S11) of -28.27 dB and a VSWR of 1.08.
