Abstract:
Internet of Things (IOT) and Embedded based smart cradle is a solution designed to enhance infant care and parental convenience. Embedding advanced instruments such as sensors, microcontrollers, and motors, it offers gentle and soothing motion to comfort babies, along with features like wetness detection and alert systems to promptly notify parents. This innovative cradle aims to create a safe and nurturing environment for babies while providing convenience and peace of mind to parents. The automated baby cradle described in this project utilized a microcontroller, a servo motor for gentle oscillations, a buzzer for parental alerts, a moisture sensor to detect wetness, and a sound-sensing system. The cradle is designed to provide convenience and safety for parents by automating the soothing motion of a baby’s cradle while incorporating a wetness detection system and a sound-sensing system. The controller Arduino Uno served as the central control unit, responsible for receiving input from the moisture sensor and controlling the mini servo motor’s oscillations. The mini servo motor is connected to the cradle, providing a gentle rocking motion to soothe the baby. The speed and intensity of the oscillations can be adjusted according to the baby’s preference. The automated baby cradle offers several benefits. Firstly, it provides a continuous and gentle rocking motion, simulating the feeling of being cradled in the arms of a caregiver, which can help soothe and comfort the baby. Secondly, the wetness detection system ensures, minimizing discomfort and reducing potential skin irritation to babies. We have additionally incorporated IOT-based smart system can also detect the emotions of babies by using a machine learning model (ML). Inference regarding baby cry can also be made via ML model. Lastly, the automation of the cradle’s motion and wetness detection and sound detection reduces the manual intervention required from the parents, allowing them to have more peace of mi...
