Designing and Development of Respiratory Ailment System for a Rapidly Deployable Emergency Ventilator

Respiratory disease and complications continue to be a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, especially in critical care. To address the pressing need for improved respiratory support systems, this project aims to design and develop a portable smart ventilator integrated with an oxygen concentrator to provide essential respiratory support to patients suffering from breathing problems. The ventilator system not only assists patients in breathing but also ensures the delivery of pure oxygen through an integrated concentrator. The separation of oxygen from the atmospheric air is achieved by the process of pressure swing adsorption. When the oxygen and nitrogen get separated due to the high pressure, the zeolites adsorb the nitrogen and pull out through the valve. Thus, the ambu-bag pumps pure oxygen to the patient. The device is designed to be compact, cost-effective, and adjustable in terms of breaths per minute, offering a potential solution for patients in need of respiratory assistance. The ventilator also offers customizable modes of operation, allowing healthcare professionals and patients to handle it in with easier way.
