An Investigation and Analysis Of Digital Human Resources Demanded by Society in Technical Education

In recent years, the fourth industrial revolution has been progressing with ICT, IoT, and AI used for processing big data. In the manufacturing industry, not only product design using 3D CAD but also CAE via 3D data and production with prototyping and testing via simulation technology is becoming more common. In technical education, there is a need for effective education that utilizes these digital technologies to teach the digital technologies that society demands. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to obtain basic knowledge by investigating digital technology among engineers and managers involved in the manufacturing industry and examining the content of education of the future. Specifically, we have investigated the purpose and problem in the introduction and situation of digital technology, human resources development to utilize digital technology, and qualities and skills to find manufacturing human resources. As a result, it was found that there is a tendency to seek human resources who have knowledge and skills in 3D CAD, CAM, and CNC machines, which are widely used in the process of manufacturing, as there is a desire to introduce advanced technologies such as AI and VR with a lack of the know-how to handle them. These findings have led to proposals for digital technology to be acquired and content to be taught in technical education.
