Solar-Wind Fed EV Charger at Variable Irradiance and Wind Speeds

To meet the growing demand of transportation the fast depleting conventional sources and fossil fuel supplies are being exhausted. A cheap and environmentally friendly replacement for conventional power sources is renewable solar and wind power. Solar and wind energy in combination is always accessible and is preferable in applications that require continuous power. A small solar-wind energy facility would be suitable for EV charging applications. In this paper a charger for Electric Vehicle is proposed using Solar-Wind hybrid source. Maximum power point tracking is used in both the solar and wind systems separately. The sources are combined in complimentary mode and is given to a battery. The model is studied at various combinations of irradiances and wind speeds.
