An Enhanced Smart Nebulizer Using IoT in the Treatment of Asthma Patients

Asthma and other respiratory diseases impose a significant global burden, affecting millions of individuals and placing substantial strain on health care systems. The domain of healthcare has witnessed transformative advancements through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, fostering the emergence of patient-centric solutions. Respiratory ailments pose significant challenges to patients, necessitating precise management and monitoring. Existing conventional inhalers often lack automation, real time monitoring, data driven insights and overall polish that leads to suboptimal treatment, but in no way, it could match with other peripherals which have advanced quite significantly over the years. Our proposed solution presents an IoT-based smart inhaler that seamlessly captures inhalation data, securely transmits it to the cloud, and employs data analytics to offer personalized recommendations. One of the key innovations of our project is the integration of real-time monitoring and feedback. By equipping the Nebulizer device with sensors and communication modules, we empower users with instant insights into their Nebulizer usage patterns. Comparison reveals that while conventional inhalers offer basic functionality, they lack the data-driven insights and remote monitoring capabilities of the IoT smart nebulizer. Future enhancements can encompass AI-driven predictive analytics, enabling early detection of exacerbations, and incorporation of wearable respiratory sensors for a comprehensive health overview.
