Influence of Harmonic Voltages on the PD Characteristics of Nano Modified Sunflower oil

Insulation in a transformer plays a crucial role in maintaining electrical isolation between different components and windings, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Mineral oil is used as an insulation and cooling medium in transformer. It is a non-biodegradable substance and can persist in the environment for a long time if released or leaked. Therefore Sunflower oil is used as an alternate for mineral oil. However, harmonic distortion is a common issue in power systems, which can cause an increase in dielectric loss and partial discharge activity, leading to insulation failure and equipment damage. Therefore, the investigation of the PD performance of pure Sunflower oil under different harmonic AC voltages is essential for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of electrical equipment. On this paper, the work is finished to have a look at the partial discharge traits of sunflower oil based nanofluid beneath harmonic AC voltages. That is the aggregate of pure sunflower oil and SiO2 nanoparticles. A nanofluid with a mass ratio of 0.01% and 0.05% sunflower oil are mixed. The PD traits were analyzed for Partial Discharge importance, initial voltage, boost time, peak height amplitude, Phase-Resolved PD sample, and frequency and time plots of Partial Discharge signal. All experiments were performed according to IEC standards. Outcomes of Nano blended sunflower oil are in comparison with natural sunflower edible oil. The effects show that: a) the PDIV value decreases as the harmonic order increase when using an AC voltage with superimposed harmonics b) PD styles are intently associated with the waveform of carried out voltage, and Silica introduced sunflower oil indicates lesser PD amplitude, pulse duration, duration (time length) while in comparison with the pure sunflower oil.
